Spring weather hacks – What you need in your wardrobe

9th May 2018

We’re loving spring here at Superdry but we know it’s a real pain when the morning starts off sunny and by the afternoon you’re dodging puddles. That’s why we’ve put together this guide on what you need to add to your spring wardrobe in 2018 – capsule wardrobe style – to nail the season’s trends and be prepared for anything.

The spring base layer

Your spring wardrobe deserves a decent base – that you can layer up on if the weather takes a turn. Here’s what to pick up – for guys and girls.

Girls – The summer dress

Don’t let the name fool you – the summer dress is the perfect base layer all year round, especially in spring. Whether you opt for a skater style or a maxi length – pair one of these dresses with a lightweight jacket and boots for easy spring style. Alternatively, chunky knitwear is your best friend if we suddenly start seeing snow in late April – well, you never know.

Guys – The polo shirt

Polo shirts are now available in the best pastel shades – ideal for nailing all the spring vibes. Look for pinks, blues and even yellows for polos that do all the talking. These pieces work best when paired with slim fit jeans – or even chino shorts if you’re feeling brave. Check out our guide on how to wear a polo shirt here on the blog – if you’re new to the world of pique and vintage fits.

The spring night out extra

It’s not quite beer garden weather but you’ll definitely be heading out more in the evenings and weekends – now that spring is here. But what should you add to your wardrobe – ready for this season’s lineup of partying?

Girls – The all-in-one

No fuss – an all-in-one addition to your wardrobe makes pulling together a look for the weekend easy and is the perfect alternative if you aren’t much of a dress girl. It could be a bold, printed jumpsuit that always looks good with your fave heels or a bodysuit to wear with high waisted jeans and boots for casual bar hopping style.

Guys – The smart/casual t-shirt

Take a slogan t-shirt then throw this on with skinny jeans and leather-look trainers and you have one of the easiest – and stylish – looks for the weekend. We’re loving vintage style tees with snug fit arms and well-worn materials. Round necks are great for vintage vibes or opt for a V-neck for a flattering cut that makes your chest and shoulders look pumped.

The casual spring go-to

For those days when you want to look good with minimal effort – these are the pieces that need adding to your wardrobe.

Girls – The boyfriend tee

T-shirts have had an upgrade with boyfriend fits that work for any shape or size. Oversized but still working with all your curves – these are the perfect t-shirts for any spring look. Pair with cut off jeans and trainers for easy to throw on style that looks good whatever or throw on under a slip dress for more of a grunge look. Add a camo print jacket to tap into this season’s biggest trends – khaki is a winner in a military style cut.

Guys – The cargo shorts

Temperature double figures? Crack out those shorts then. Cargo shorts are great because they feature plenty of pockets – meaning you can keep everything close by and leave the rucksack at home.

The transitional addition

Spring hotting up? BBQ beckoning? Time to get those transitional wardrobe pieces in.

Girls – The cami top

Camis work for all weathers – they’re easy to slip under jackets but they still look good on their own. Pair one of these tops with skinny jeans or a mini skirt for easy spring style. Finish off with a denim jacket. We’re loving camis with embellished edges – opt for lace, frills and pom poms to add a little interest to an everyday look.

Guys – The summer-ready slip-on

Think sliders are just for poolside lounging? Nah. Grab a pair and wear them with sports socks and shorts for easy spring vibes – finish off with a bold logo t-shirt for athleisure vibes.
