TEAM UK Announcement I Invictus Games Sydney 2018
15th May 2018
Superdry is proud to support Team UK as they begin their journey to the Invictus Games Sydney 2018.
Today the team, delivered by Help for Heroes, were joined by Prime Minister Theresa May and former Team UK captains for their first official team photograph as they were formally announced at Horse Guards Parade.
Yesterday all 72 members of the team received their Village Kit at the Superdry Store in Regent Street.
“As soon as I arrived, I thought ‘wow’ and then coming into the building to see what Superdry had done was fantastic,” said Vice Captain Spencer Bull.
Spanning two floors of the Regent St. Store, each team member had their own individual locker collection area where they got to try on their Village Kit. It was an incredibly emotional, uplifting experience for the team to get to know each other as teammates and see their official kit for the first time.
Team UK Chef de Mission Jayne Kavanagh congratulated the team, commenting on the Invictus spirit and the fantastic journey that awaits each competitor.
“We’ve got a military mentality and that’s one thing we all hold,” said Team Captain Mark “Dot” Perkins. “We’ve got to tap into that to make everyone gel and bond and that’s one thing military people do very well.”
Vice Captain Michelle Turner agreed with Mark on the military spirit and camaraderie of the Games.
“A lot of people here today didn’t get through to Toronto but they picked themselves up, didn’t give up, and carried on,” she said.
Superdry is the Official Sportswear Partner for the UK Team on their journey to the Invictus Games Sydney 2018. The technology used in the kit is the same technology that features in the full mens and womens Superdry Sport range.
