Seeing Red – This Season’s Hottest Colour
3rd October 2017
Red definitely gets you noticed. It’s fire and passion. Lust and adventure. It takes any regular look and turns it into something hot – whether you’re bossing it at work or dominating the dance floor.
This season, red is being featured on clothes rails everywhere. Perfect for autumn – it reminds us of loud nights in front of bonfires, being brave and setting off fireworks in your mate’s back garden and stealing the sofa in front of the fire at the nearest bar.
It’s not just vibrant scarlet shades that are leading the way though – deep wine colours and bold orange tones are also out there – ready to flatter every skin tone. The AW17 fashion catwalks – that set the tone for all things trend for the season ahead – loved the colour too.
As the saying goes: when in doubt, wear red. Here’s how:
Tonal dressing is winning at the moment. We’re loving dressing top-to-toe in one colour and red is the perfect palette to dip into. Either opt for a variety of shades or pick out a couple of similar pieces – in the same colour.
Girls – Grab a red printed dress (we’re loving tartan this season) check out our Georgie Shift Dress and wear this under a cropped red jacket. Wondering what colour shoes to wear with a red dress? Try our Millie Suede Chelsea boots in black, on for size.
Accessories can make or break the vibe – add red into your extras to nail this autumn fashion trend.
Guys – Throw on a red beanie when you leave the house. Great if you’ve left your hair products round your new girl’s house or the weather is looking poor.
Girls – A red lip makes a great accessory. When it comes to how to wear red lipstick make it the focus of your makeup look. Leave eyes relatively simple – besides a little mascara and make sure brows are sharp.
We Like Your Accent
Strong accenting items are an easy way to nail this look without having to buy a whole new wardrobe. You just need one piece that can be swapped in and out to create new season looks, every day.
Guys – Knitwear featuring a bold red stripe or pattern is a good call – we’re loving the 90s vibes of our Japan City Breakers Crew Jumper – pair this with your fave blue jeans and casual trainers. It also works with joggers for Sunday lounging and gaming round your mates.
Girls – Alternative patterns will always get you noticed. Look for knitwear or long sleeved tees this season that are comfy but feature a strong streak of red. Our Freemont Top is a good example. Wear with black skinnies, trainers and a padded jacket thrown on top, for easy autumn vibes.
Night out planned? Or just pre drinks that have the potential to turn into a 5am finish? Add some red to your party look.
Guys – Embrace strong lumberjack vibes with a red check shirt – wear over a V-neck tee and pair with black jeans and leather trainers.
Girls – Show off that summer bod with a figure hugging bodycon dress in red – wear it with a leather jacket and heels for that big night.
