Being a festival first-timer can be daunting, this summer Sarah Barlow (Look Magazines Fashion Assitant) took her boyfriend to his first Glastonbury. Taking on the challenges she takes us through her festival essentials!

“Another summer, another Glastonbury. Whilst my boyfriend Christopher was – before last week – a Glasto-virgin, after 7 visits to Worthy Farm I think of myself as somewhat of a veteran. However it was I that learnt a few essential Glastonbury lessons this year:

1. If you’re going to plaster yourself in glittery temporary tattoos make sure you don’t leave them on for five days running or you will end up with a body full of bizarrely shaped sun tan lines come Monday.

2. No matter where you’ve camped, the walk back from Shangri-La at 5am will always seem like a million miles away. Take a pit-stop for a portion of churros en-route to make the trek that little more bearable.

3. Whether you rise at 7 or 11, there will always be a queue for the Breakfast club food van. So just take your time (and another hour or two in bed!)

4. Don’t forget to check social media to find out who the TBA/ secret guest appearances are: We discovered last minute through Twitter that The Libertines we’re taking Florence’s original scheduled spot, and they ended up being one of our favourite performances of the week.

5. Whatever the weather forecast always bring two different types of festival footwear. Thankfully, the sun made another appearance on Sunday afternoon so off came our wellies and on came our Superdry sneakers again. Phew!

6. Hula-hooping in the healing fields is and will always be the best hangover cure, ever!

Now all that’s left to learn is how to beat the post-Glastonbury blues; My body aches, my mind aches, but the biggest ache of all is the realisation it’s all over… until next year anyway!”

Sarah wears;

Fjord tassle cardigan, £94.99 and summer seeker dress, £44.99

Christopher wears;

Concert roll t-shirt £24.99, Trophy low top trainers £39.99 and True Montana rucksack, £34.99

It’s that time of year again! The travel bug has set in, and the sound of crashing beach waves or sun glazed city streets are calling. Being a global lifestyle brand, we know just the getaway! We give the lowdown on three top destinations in our first Summer Style getaway guide…

Prague

The sun rising over the city on clear mornings, lunch under a terrace canopy, lights reflecting on the river’s surface on warm evenings, Prague’s summer months pulse with energy! And the beer? Well, it’s the best in Europe! Summer events include Museum Night in June, Prague Folklore Days in July and the Festival of Italian Operas in August. Also, look for performances in Prague’s theatres and live shows in Prague’s bars and pubs!

What to pack: Prague’s cobblestone walkways can be unkind to feet. Try our low pro trainers for comfort and style. For men, our nautical chino shorts and lightweight checked shirts will take you from the streets to the bar, and floral 50s style dresses for women make for all-day wearing. Forgotten a wardrobe essential? We’ve got you covered! Pick it up at our store in Prague.

Bangkok, Thailand

Bangkok welcomes more visitors than any other city in the world and it doesn’t take long to realise why. Packed with extreme action on every corner: marvel at the gleaming temples, catch a tuk-tuk along the bustling Chinatown or take a long tail boat through floating markets. Food is a highlight, from local dishes served at humble street stalls to haute cuisine at romantic rooftop restaurants. No visit to Bangkok would be complete without a peek at its famous nightlife. From cabarets to exotic red-light districts, Bangkok never ceases to amaze.

What to pack: Bangkok is urban and chic. Wear those sundresses and T-shirts and save the bikinis and bare feet for the beach. It’s hot! Our mens light cotton vests and shorts will help keep you cool. Didn’t know that it’s rainy season? Don’t worry, pop in to our Bangkok store and pick up a jacket!

Santa Monica, California

From hundreds of cool restaurants to more than three miles of white sandy beach, Santa Monica is a one of the best summer locations in the US. Home of icon TV show Baywatch, the city, has a vibe like no other. The famous and historic Santa Monica Pier, home to tempting smells from food stalls and the solar-powered, nine-storey high Ferris wheel has long been a symbol of the city. If you’d rather mingle with the high society than the surf dudes, head to Montana Avenue where you’ll find small stores and restaurants. With Hollywood just around the corner, you never know who you’ll see!

What to pack: Hitting the beach? Our crochet bikinis and denim shorts for women are ideal while bold printed board shorts and racer vests for men make the perfect ensemble. Santa Monica is facing the Pacific Ocean, layers for cooler breezes are essential! If you get there and your shirt doesn’t cut the chill, check out our store in Santa Monica for some great hoodies and jackets.

This week, our #SuperdrySounds mega mix brings you those big summer tunes everyone is talking about. With an eclectic playlist featuring tracks from the hottest artists right now, we’re here to help you soundtrack those glorious days in the sun with our ultimate round up of summer anthems.

First up, the French duo L’Entourloop has nailed the summer time vibes with an easy listening tracklist. Sip a cocktail in the garden and relax to some seriously uplifting beats that perfectly mix hip-hop and reggae; some of the tracks feature our favorite samples too.

Boasting an amazing back catalogue of tracks, Ukraine-based producer The Cancel uses amazing samples in his production to round off some really modest hip-hop beats. We randomly stumbled upon his music and have had it playing on repeat ever since. These beats are ideal for BBQ banter.

This next track has got one hell of a presence! We only have a short preview of U.N.I included in this playlist, but boy it’s good! Released on the ULTRAMAJIC label founded by Jimmy Edgar, the vocals behind the track are slick and soulful, but what else could we expect from Jamie Lidell who is behind it all. Jamie’s guest vocals as of late have been absolutely spot on; we recently featured Machinedrum’s remix of JETS ‘Midas Touch’, a wicked re-vamp of the 1986 funk classic from Midnight Star.

We’ve been following our next musician for a couple of years now so we are super excited for the release of his debut album this August (14th). Signed to PMR Records, the smooth sounds of London-based Dornik will be a summer staple – especially as he is performing at Lovebox Festival in London this July (17th). We first heard about Dornik when our friends at Crack Magazine were working on his artwork for ‘Something About You’ back in 2013 and we’ve been following ever since.

As massive fans of Flume, we’ve featured him time and time again, so this week is no exception. The accomplished Australian producer is really pushing his unique sound to another level with his latest release, ‘Some Minds’. Out on Mom+Pop records (under exclusive license from Future Classic), the video for this track sees an epic collaboration between Flume and the Sydney Opera House, with Clemens Habicht directing, offering up an unmissable visual spectacle.

Finally, we’re champions for emerging talent, so Flo Morrissey is definitely on our radar. Signed up to record label, Glass Animals, the 21-year-old singer/songwriter from London has a really delicate, organic feel, so if you love a bit of Lana Del Rey, this one will be right up your street. She actually has a bunch of upcoming tour dates in the UK, France and Luxembourg – you can catch her on The Park stage at Glastonbury this week.

Listen to the full playlist here and make sure you subscribe to our SoundCloud channel for all the latest tunes!

In a ‘David and Goliath’ style challenge we take on Gloucester Rugby at a game of ‘Clap and Catch’, find out what happened.

Today we had the legendary Gloucester Rugby boys, Jonny May, James Hook, John Afoa and Dan Murphy in our studio to catch up with us for our Rugby magazine out August 2015. While we were with the boys we decided to take them on in a game of ‘Clap and Catch’.

If you haven’t played ‘Clap and Catch’ before the rules are simple (or so we thought!):

  • You need to clap before you catch the ball
  • If you don’t clap before you catch the ball you lose a life
  • If you clap when the ball hasn’t been thrown to you (false throw) you lose a life
  • You have 5 lives per team

So our photography team and writer took to our studio floor to throw down like no-one else can against the incredible Gloucester Rugby players.

In the intense game that was streamed live via Periscope the rugby ball was tossed between the two teams and it was clear that team Superdry were not going to win this match, suffering a 5-1 defeat.

A hearty handshake to end the intense 60 second game

Have you got a burning question for James Hook, Johnny May, Dan Murphy or John Afoa?

This week we’re catching up with these four Gloucester Rugby stars to find out what drives them, their training tips and what’s in store for the future for our magazine Edition Rugby, out August 2015. This is where you come in. We want to know if you have a question for one of the Gloucester Rugby players.

Have you always wondered what’s in James Hook’s locker or what Johnny May’s least favourite training exercise is? Or perhaps you want to know if Dan Murphy misses the number 8 position he started in or whether John Afoa has any pre-match routines. Well you get the idea – if any of these questions have ever crossed your mind we want to hear from you!

Want to get involved? Head over to twitter and ask your question using #SuperdryRugby (don’t forget to @Superdry) tomorrow we’ll be posting the questions that have been selected to appear in print as part of the Edition Rugby

Didn’t know we did a rugby collection? Designed this year to celebrate an immense year of rugby, it has been fitted to a player physique inspired from the vintage kits of the 70′s and 80′s there’s a mens and womens collection meaning you can save your much loved rugby top from becoming a “boyfriend jumper”, these are too good to share!

Fashion blogger, Josie Fear aka Fashion Mumblr, won herself a backstage pass and the chance to take over our social channels for our launch event of Idris Elba + Superdry, read about the event through her eyes!

“It’s not everyday that you find yourself behind the scenes in one of Regent Streets biggest stores, locked in a room with dozens of topless male models. OK, there may not have been dozens but after seeing a certain amount of six packs, one tends to loose count! This was me last night, after the team at Superdry gave me an Access All Areas pass for their Idris Elba + Superdry London Collections Men (LCM) presentation.

MORE importantly * ahem * I was there to get a first glimpse at the Idris Elba collection. Other than the man himself and the Superdry team, I was the first person ever to see the collection, how cool is that?! I could immediately spot the Idris Elba influence; the tailored wool pea coats that I can just picture him wearing, striding down the streets of London town (yep, got Luther in my head!), his signature Monogram jackets, and some premium detailing within triple stitched outerwear and some incredibly wearable denim pieces. Also part of the 250 piece collection were some luxurious sportswear pieces, but with a more refined and high fashion element compared to the usual bright and energetic Superdry range.

Well, if anyone knows how to throw a party, Superdry do! Heading back downstairs, their showroom had been transformed into a full on party, kicking off London Collections Men in Superdry style – there were ice sculptures, cocktails on tap, and even Idris Elba’s best pal in the DJ booth, DJ Boogie.

Idris introduced the collection dressed in a seriously cool IE emblazoned hoodie and dark washed jeans, and told us all why he chose Superdry as a brand that he wanted to collaborate with. The pieces are timeless, luxurious and iconic – mixing the modern gentleman with the Superdry stylish customer.

The crowd of fashion bloggers, press, and fashion VIPs leaned in for a closer look at the collection; the 20 strong army of male models showed us how to style this stylish range; with pops of colour peeking out from under the collars, exquisitely tailored coats over smart polos, and leather jackets toughening up a grey marl jumper.

The collection hits the stores in November and thanks to Idris, the men folk of London and beyond will be looking seriously dapper this Autumn Winter with this fabulous collaboration.

I had a super evening with the team at Superdry – thank you guys for having me and for such a great party!”

Last night we kicked off London Collections Men in style with the launch of our biggest collaboration to date, Superdry + Idris Elba. Social media was buzzing from 7pm as press, celebrities and the British Fashion Council gathered to see a preview of the 250-piece collection. At 8pm the audience were hushed as the stage was cleared for the presentation to begin. An army of models marched onto the second floor of our Regent Street flagship store. Standing in formation the models looked frozen in time as Idris Elba, himself, introduced the audience to our collaboration.

If you missed the action on our Periscope channel last night, check out all the highlights here.

During the event we were joined by blogger Fashion Mumblr who won herself a backstage pass to the collection preview earlier this week and will be taking over our pinterest page and blog later today.
